Everton have made a decent start in the domestic league and in Europe, this season as Ronald Koeman looks to establish the side as a regular contender for a place in the top-4 in England. The club lost its top goal scorer in Romelu Lukaku this summer and though the likes of Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney will add goals to the side, Koeman is searching for a player who can lead the attack regularly this season.
This has seen him linked with an array of strikers recently and the latest name added to the list is Raul Jimenez. According to the Record, the Mexican international is interested in a move to the Premier League this summer and a number of clubs are interested in his signature, including Everton.
The same report claims that Everton have already had a €30m bid rejected for him recently so should the Toffees go back with a better offer before the deadline day?
An academy product of America, a Mexican top flight football club, Jimenez earned a move to Atletico Madrid in 2014 but after just 21 appearances and a goal in the only season in Spain, he was picked up SL Benfica, where he has now established himself as a regular in the first team.
In his two years in Portugal, he picked up 12 goals in 49 appearances to date and has been in decent form in front of goal. A centre forward by trait, the 26-year old is a beast in the air and his aggressive approach is not something every defender can handle. Strong with hold up play and even better with his finishing, Jimenez is a player tailor made for the English game.
He can find the back of the net from different angles and ranges and is a player who can lead the attack of an English side with ease. At 26, he is only reaching his prime as a footballer and will be a superb addition for the Toffees this season.
With 54 international appearances for Mexico, he is an established star and will be an asset even in European competitions and can be a more than decent replacement for Lukaku, late this summer.
He has no previous experience in England but has all the attributes that will make him a hit and though he might take time to adjust to the conditions, will be playing under a manager who will set up his team to the player’s strength, which will make him more effective. But is he the right man for Everton?
