New Premier League giants Everton are now reportedly chasing Borussia Dortmund’s want away winger Emre Mor as they join the long bandwagon of clubs interested in landing him this summer. The young Turk had come to the Bundesliga on the back of huge hype and anticipation but has failed to provide any such spark whatsoever.
If reports are to be believed that the German club have plans of letting him go this summer and has slapped an asking price of £12million. The fee remains quite affordable for most of the sides in his pursuit.
Everton have already brought in some of the best-attacking talents across Europe in Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez, but Ronald Koeman would need another player to bring the balance in their attacking arsenal. The Toffees managed to score 62 goals last season, more than Manchester United (54) who finished above them, courtesy to the heroics of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.
However, now with Lukaku gone and Barkley on the verge of moving out, Koeman needs to replace them with more options. Kevin Mirallas on the left wing hasn’t been much of a threat for the Dutch gaffer, which was evident from their lacklustre performance in the Europa League Qualifier first leg, and Mor could bring in the surprise element Everton are seeking now.
A player is always judged by his most recent performance and Mor is definitely not a big catch by any means if considered that. He could manage only one goal and three assists in 19 Bundesliga appearances last season. But the bits and parts that the Turkish international has shown in both in national colours and for Dortmund were enough to excite the Liverpool manager, who wants him desperately at Anfield.
Apart from Liverpool, Serie A side Fiorentina are also interested and have reportedly made an initial bid of £10.7 million for the winger. However, the youngster is willing to try his luck in England, which has kept clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal on red alert.
Everton will, however, face a stiff competition from Super Lig giants Fenerbahce, who are eyeing a temporary move for him and Spanish sides Celta de Vigo and Real Sociedad. Mor can be hugely instrumental on the counter given his tremendous pace and bag of trickeries and he could be a brilliant fit in the Premier League clubs who like to play on the counter, and Everton are one such side.
The academy product of Denmark club Brönshöj Boldklub, Mor has spent most of his junior years playing for Lyngby BK before their top-flight side FC Nordsjaelland picked him up in 2015. Mor was an instant success there breaking into the senior team and becoming an established member of the squad. Dortmund had given him no time to develop and bought him soon, which might have been a mistake it seems.
