According to reports, Crystal Palace are lining up a bid for Lokomotiv Moscow defender Solomon Kvirkvelia. The Eagles’ gaffer has been searching for a defender for his side and has been linked with a number of players this transfer window.
The 25-year-old is famous for his resolute defending and his solid presence in the backline. The Crystal Palace defence looked shaky at times and the Georgian international could heal the damage given his calm playing style.
The defender was on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow from Rubin Kazan the last season but following his impressive performance, the Russian club made his stay permanent by signing him to a long term deal.
De Boer has held talks with Palace chairman Steve Parish and as of now, the Dutch gaffer’s future is looking pretty much secure. But if Palace’s form continues to degrade, the De Boer will have to find a new home.
Kvirkvelia continues his superb form in the Lokomotiv backline and his superior defending has attracted the interest of a number of clubs. Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion are also considering approaching the Russian club for his service.
West Brom are destined to lose Jonny Evans before the deadline day ends and Tony Pulis has been preparing himself to replace the outgoing defender. Craig Shakespeare is also planning a move for the player as he is adamant to find a partner for new entrant Harry Maguire.
Kvirkvelia only has signed a new contract in July but if he does receive an offer for plying his trade in the Premier League he is unlikely to reject it. Currently, the English top tier is regarded as the most competitive and exciting Leagues in the world and any player would love to be a part of this gigantic extravaganza.
Also, the Eagles would be able to offer a more lucrative package than his current deal. Standing at six feet four, the defender has an astute aerial presence which could be effective in the English top tier.
The Eagles are stuttering in the league table after three consecutive defeats. The defender also has shined for his country racking up 23 appearances at the international level. He can also be deployed on the right side of the defence if needed.
Palace have very little time in their hand to work on this deal and chairman Steve Parish has promised to inject a fresh amount of transfer kitty to the club as he is looking to save his club from the current situation. The Eagles flirted with the relegation at one point last season and would be looking to avoid a similar situation this time around.
