Everton, who are currently in good form, having started the season well in the Premier League this term, will be facing the might of the reigning champions Chelsea in their third match of the campaign to be played this weekend. Chelsea lost their first match but bounced back in their second encounter of the season against Tottenham Hotspur which they won 2-1.
Everton scraped a draw out of an intriguing contest against Manchester City and will be looking forward to getting under the skin of the current Premier League champions as they face them in their own backyard. The Blues, however, will not let the Toffees walk away with three points and will definitely look to make it as difficult as possible for them in the next match.
Both the teams have sets of fine players, both experienced as well as young, who will be vying with each other to get the much desired three points, crucial for the progress of both the teams this season. Some of these players will have a very important role to play in the match as they come against each other in this clash of titans, leading to the following key battles-
Wayne Rooney vs Gary Cahill-
The Chelsea captain is set to make a return to the lineup after missing the last match owing to a red card he received in the first match against Burnley. He will look to stop the juggernaut of his compatriot and striker Wayne Rooney, who recently announced his retirement from international football, as the Englishman will be looking to add to his tally of goals after scoring in both the previous matches against Stoke and Manchester City.
Alvaro Morata vs Michael Keane-
The Chelsea striker has shown glimpses of his brilliance in the last two matches and has already scored his debut goal in his very first match in the Premier League against Burnley. However, it will not be a cakewalk for the Spaniard as he will be up against one of the best defenders in the form of Michael Keane, who will look to stop him from scoring against his team and add to his tally.
Tiemoue Bakayoko vs Idrissa Gueye-
The two central midfielders will come up against each other in the middle of the pitch in their next match and will use all their power and skills to keep each other off the ball and keep their respective teams at an advantage.
