Chelsea have got back to winning ways as the Blues defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, with both goals coming from the foot of the left fullback Marcos Alonso. With this win, the reigning Champions have clawed their way back into the current Premier League campaign after their shock defeat at the hands of Burnley in their opening match.
However, the current team composition seems to have become a bit of a headache for the Chelsea coach Antonio Conte, who is looking to bring in some new players into the team and reshape it for the forthcoming matches. The wily tactician has been eyeing a number of players and might sign a few amongst them before the closure of the summer transfer window.
One player, who is right on the top of the priority list for the Italian mastermind, is the English midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, currently playing for Arsenal. The right winger has been a part of the North London club since 2011 and has been hugely underplayed throughout his tenure at the Emirates Stadium so far, which is assumed to be the biggest factor for the Englishman for wanting a move away from Arsenal and preferably to their neighbours in West London this summer.
Chelsea has been eyeing the player for quite some time now in order to get him to play as a right winger in their lineup, a role in which the 24-year-old excelled in the last season for his current club Arsenal. His pace and prowess on the right-hand side of the field and his ability to cut into the attacking third with and without the ball to create space as well as opportunities for his teammates has been impressive enough for Conte to make a move for the English ace in the summer.
The talented speedster made only 16 first team appearances for the Gunners in the last term, which might have been the major reason for the player to get agitated with his current club manager Arsene Wenger, leading to a denial from his side to put down the signature on a renewed contract offer with a revised wage structure. This has made the chances for Chelsea even stronger to get the 24-year-old in their lineup for this season.
However, Arsenal might be thinking otherwise this term and have already handed the player two opportunities in their first two outings in the Premier League. Now it has to be seen whether the Gunners can hold onto the English youngster for the rest of the season or the player completes a move to Stamford Bridge.
