Chelsea had one of the most successful seasons in the last term in their history as they lifted the Premier League trophy. However, they will have to face a tougher season this term as the Blues will be competing against some of the best teams from all over Europe in the Champions League.
The Blues have no such significant injury worries going into the new season and will be expected to perform just as they did in the last season. With a number of new players at their disposal, it is expected that the present Premier League champions will be able to make it to the top of the table once again and help themselves defend their title well.
Strengths-
The West London club have a number of world class players at their disposal and are sure to field one of the strongest teams in the Premier League season. The Blues have made a number of signings in the summer including the likes of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, who had a very good season with their previous clubs and will be looking to continue their good run with the Premier League champions as well.
Weakness-
The Blues have a very strong squad at their disposal in the current scenario and are supposed to display a really strong performance in the new season. However, Antonio Conte has to be cautious about any late goof-ups, especially in the defensive lineup, making it difficult for them to maintain their domination in the new term. The injury of Eden Hazard has also been a concern for the Blues, but he is recovering quickly and hopefully will be featuring as soon as possible.
Key Men-
Almost all the players played really well in the last term for the West London club to help them achieve a season of tremendous success in the Premier League. Eden Hazard, the talismanic attacker, who scored 16 goals in the season for the Blues, will once again be crucial for them to keep hold of the title in the new season as well. Players like Morata, Kante and Bakayoko are in good shape and are also expected to play very important roles this season for Chelsea.
Expectations-
Chelsea did not look good in their first competitive match of the season against Arsenal in the FA Community Shield, eventually losing it on penalties after a stalemate during the regulation period. However, their fans will hope that they will be treated with some good football in the new season and will be poised to see their favourite club lift a number of silverwares this season.
