A horrific loss to Burnley was forgotten after Chelsea triumphed over Spurs at Wembley and that gave them a platform to build up on the consistency and they did exactly what was required after pummeling Everton. A clinical opener from Cesc Fabregas and a lovely header from Morata was enough to see off Everton who were completely outplayed and showed no intent. Conte’s team got the maximum six points against two good teams and here’s how the Blues have been rated after today’s victory:-
GK: Thibaut Courtois- 7/10
Everton hadn’t even visited Chelsea’s penalty area until the second half and they gave Courtois no trouble till the final whistle. Clean-sheet is a welcome bonus for the Belgian.
RWB: Victor Moses – 7/10
Hardly troubled defensively and didn’t contribute much attacking wise either. He was just tidy and went with the flow.
CB: Azpilicueta – 7.5/10
Got into nice positions at times, defensively really good and crossed in beautifully for Morata’s goal. A sweet performance from the captain.
CB: David Luiz – 7/10
Made his presence felt and never allowed Sandro or Rooney to get the better of him.
CB: Antonio Rudiger – 6.5/10
Very neat and organised. He didn’t have much to deal with.
LWB: Marcos Alonso – 8/10
He was terrific on the left and completely unmatched today. No one could outplay him, not even Rooney or Holgate. A strong performance from the wingback.
CM: Cesc Fabregas – 7/10
Kept the ball ticking in the midfield and took his chance with a smart finish for Chelsea’s opener. Chelsea didn’t need his creativity much because they stepped up well as an attacking force but Cesc did his job well when called upon.
CM: N’Golo Kante – 7/10
As usual, he ran like a machine and troubled Everton with his pressing. Controlled the ball nicely on many occasions too.
RF: Willian – 7.5/10
He had an excellent first half with slick passes and clever bursts of pace. The tempo in the second half dropped but Willian has a very nice game today. Top performance with Chelsea missing Hazard as well.
LF: Pedro Rodriguez – 6/10
Not noticeable much but the one time he made a great chance for himself, he messed it up. Some positives to take but scope left for improvement as well.
CF: Alvaro Morata: 7/10
Had a few problems with movements and holding up the ball initially but he got an assist and a goal before the first half came to an end. Morata has to grow and gel better as the weeks go on but he’s off to an extremely positive start!
