Birmingham City made a disappointing end to the last season, having finished it in a lowly 19th position in the league table in the Championship. The Blues are looking to make amends for their mistakes in the last term and are in pursuit of a number of players who can help them get some positive results under their belt for the next term.
The defence has been a major area of concern for Birmingham City in the last term and it is imperative for them to bring in new players, who can stabilize the backline in the next term and make it a better one in terms of result for them.
Reportedly, the Blues are eyeing a big swoop in the summer to bag the centre back Aden Flint and left back Joe Bryan from fellow Championship side Bristol City. Both the defenders have been nothing less than rocks in the defence for the Robins in the last term and have been highly rated in the Championship.
Birmingham City has been out of sorts on most occasions in the last term, making it easier for their opposition players to score goals against them. The Blues defence never looked settled throughout the season and conceded 64 goals in total, which led to their downfall in the last term and made their current coach Harry Redknapp take the decision to revamp the squad and bring in new players to strengthen the backline in the summer transfer market.
While Flint has been making ripples with his hard hitting tackles and headers to avert the danger by keeping the opposition strikers at bay, Joe Bryan also made a good contribution to his team by playing on the left wing and making darting runs into the attacking third to initiate attacks. He has also been instrumental in delivering swift passes and crosses into the opposition box, helping his teammates to score goals by providing assists.
Both Joe Bryan and Aden Flint have good enough experience of playing in a number of matches in the Championship so far in their career, accounting for 181 and 200 matches respectively. The manager of Birmingham City, Harry Redknapp is well aware of the value of experience in the Championship and will be more than happy to get them in his team roster for the next season.
However, both the players are important for their current club Bristol City and it is very unlikely that the Robins will let go of their prized possessions in the ongoing summer transfer window.
