It has been a start far from good for Birmingham City in the Championship so far, as they have won one, lost two and drawn one of their four matches in the campaign. Their only win came against Bristol City, which they won 2-1. The morale of the Blues has taken a tumble for sure and they are looking to bounce back in the season’s forthcoming games.
Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp is looking forward to rethinking his strategies, which don’t look to be firing at the present moment. The wily Englishman is also looking to add some new blood to his side and is eyeing a few players from the Championship as well as Premier League to be brought into the squad in the summer.
One such player, who is right on the top of the priority list of the Blues manager, is Robert Snodgrass. The 29-year-old midfielder is currently playing for the West Ham United side in the Premier League and has fallen down the pecking order in the last season since coming to the side from his former club Hull City in January 2017.
West Ham United are reportedly willing to let go of the player, who is currently deemed as surplus to the side and has not featured so far in their Premier League campaign. Birmingham City are looking to take advantage of the situation and are willing to bag the player, who they believe can give their side that much-needed impetus in the Championship to get some positive results under their belt in the forthcoming matches.
The English midfielder, who has been far from the form that he showed during his days at Hull City since his arrival at the London Stadium, has featured only 15 times so far for the Hammers and has failed to impress with his footwork. The player has also not been able to score a single goal in the Premier League so far since joining his current club and has only laid off 2 assists for his teammates to score goals.
There have been a number of sides in the current situation who are looking to put their tabs on the player to be brought into their side for the new season, belonging to the Championship, including Birmingham City’s close rivals Aston Villa as well as Sunderland, who were relegated from the top flight at the end of the last season. However, the Blues are looking desperate to bring in the player for the new season into their team, as he might turn out to the influence they have been looking for to revive their season.
