It has been a very entertaining weekend on Matchweek 3 in the Premier League, which saw a number of teams get a stronger grip on their positions in the table, while some teams hit the rock bottom after disastrous performances against their opponents.
Arsenal faced a heavy defeat at the hands of arch rivals, Liverpool, as the Reds ran away with the match, demolishing the Gunners 4-0 at Anfield. The North London club are finding themselves in absolute dire straits and might be compelled to rethink their strategies in order to get some positive results under their belt after back to back defeats on consecutive weekends.
Defending champions Chelsea, along with Manchester United and Manchester City got themselves a win to boost their chances of having more good results in the forthcoming days. Things were not as good for Everton, who faced their first defeat of the season, having been beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
A number of players excelled for their outfits with brilliant performances, too good for their opponents to handle. Three such players are-
Sadio Mane-
The Senegalese star just can’t stop scoring at the current moment and Arsenal had to face his wrath this time around. The Liverpool attacker scored the second goal for his team en route to a thrashing that the North London club had to suffer in their third match of this Premier League campaign and helped his team to walk away with all three points.
The player has started this season with a bang, having notched up three goals already and is looking a strong contender in the run for the Golden Boot.
Phil Jones-
The Manchester United defender looked in fine form in their match against Leicester City and displayed immense physicality and great composure at the heart of the defence for his side to make sure that his team is able to walk away with all three points once again. He also ensured that there were no lapses in the backline for the Red Devils and helped David De Gea to keep another clean sheet and get his team to affirm their position at the top of the league table.
Roberto Firmino-
The Brazilian dazzler has finally come of age and is playing meticulously so far this season, spearheading Liverpool’s attack in the absence of their talismanic midfielder Phillipe Coutinho. He showed great agility and composure, scoring the first goal in his side’s gargantuan clash against arch rivals Arsenal and paved the way to victory, confirming three more points for the Merseyside club.
