The new Premier League season is knocking on the door and all the clubs have been busy preparing for the new campaign. Newcastle United, Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion got promoted from the Premier League and will be seen rubbing shoulders with the other teams in the top flight.
Among the aforementioned names, Brighton have never played their part in the top tier so it will be a new challenge for them and the way Chris Hughton has shaped his team, it would be a big opportunity for him to show class his footballing sense.
A lot of money has been invested in the summer already and with World Cup looming ahead, all the players will be trying to cement a place in their respective countries’ World Cup squad, so the upcoming season is bound to attract more fanfare. Here are three players who could have stellar time in the Premier League this season.
Romelu Lukaku
The former Everton striker moved to Manchester United in a world record move and will feel the heat to perform on a consistent basis. There has been rigorous speculation regarding his transfer as Chelsea was leading the race but some last minute change of plans and the intervention of United manager Jose Mourinho saw him arrive at the Old Trafford.
On the back of a very successful pre-season, the onus will be on Lukaku to deliver. United suffered heavily for not converting chances last campaign and the arrival of Lukaku is likely to end this problem.
Michy Batshuayi
Chelsea spent close to £33m to bring the player all the way to Stamford Bridge but to everyone’s surprise, Antonio Conte only used Diego Costa for most of the previous season as the Blues went on to lift the Premier League title for the second time in three years.
His limited game time linked him with an imminent move away from the Stamford Bridge but Conte rejected all the speculation and the player looks like he will stay at the club. The Belgian forward impressed in the pre-season with his excellent finishing and appetite for goals which will help Conte to use him more heavily next season.
Olivier Giroud
There has been relentless speculation linking Olivier Giroud to a number of clubs but it is very unlikely the player will leave this season. Giroud is expected to see his game time being curtailed by his fellow country man Alexandre Lacazette but the French forward is ready to face the challenges.
He is also in danger of losing his place in the France national team as players like Lacazette, Kylian Mbappe Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele are vying for a starting berth. A good season for the Gunners might give him the chance to start the World Cup as the preferred choice so he might put in the hard yards and help Arsenal go all the way.
