Top clubs have invested a large chunk of their transfer budget in bringing goal poachers as the next season is set to be one of the most intriguing seasons in the last few years. And this summer has seen some top quality strikers added to the Premier Leauge rooster, making it all the more exciting.
For the last two seasons Harry Kane has made the Golden Boot his own but this time it won’t be very easy as a number of talented forwards have arrived in the Premier League to make a statement.
It remains to be seen how they cope up with the various aspects of the Premier League but given their proven goal scoring record it will be a delight to see the fierce competitions between them. Here are three such strikers who could win the Golden Boot this season in England:
Alexandre Lacazette
The French striker’s arrival to the Emirates has been the focal point of Arsenal’s transfer strategy so far. Supporters have been urging for the addition of a proper number nine and Wenger answered them by adding the French hit man to the squad.
The gaffer has long been trying to secure his services and at last, he had the last laugh. Since the departure of Robin Van Persie Arsenal have been struggling to find the back of the net. But now with the arrival of Lacazette, the problem is set to be resolved. With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil operating behind him, he just needs to grab the opportunities that come towards him.
Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian was supposed to wear the Chelsea jersey next season but after failing to bring Alvaro Morata, Jose Mourinho decided to change his plan at the last moment and sprung a surprise by snapping up the Belgian superstar.
Lukaku was expecting to pick the Golden Boot award last season but a late flurry of form and some poor luck saw Kane sweeping the award. The Belgian forward scored 25 goals last season and fell short by a whisker.
But he will be seen rubbing shoulders with quality players like Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata so he needs to be a more attentive as he often faced flak for his awful first touch.
Harry Kane
Mauricio Pochettino’s best bet is to challenge for the Premier League title next season. Kane has been excellent in the last two seasons for Spurs and despite being injured for a brief period, he went on to be the top scorer last season.
Spurs’ medical team should work on his fitness and if he remains fit for the entire season there could be a realistic chance for the North Londoners.
