Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers are on their way to make a big coup in the summer transfer window, as they are lining up a bid for the Burnley striker Andre Gray, who is currently playing in the Premier League. Reportedly, the Wolves are looking to make a bid of £20 million for the player to be brought into the side, which is a record breaking transfer fee in the history of the club.
The Midlands side are on a spending spree owing to the financial strength of their new Chinese owners and have already spent big sums of money to procure players for their team in the summer transfer window.
Having already bagged Ruben Neves from the Portuguese side Porto and Helder Costa, who was already on loan in the last term playing at the Molineux Stadium, as his move has been made permanent, spending £15 million and £13 million respectively, the Wolves are now looking forward to bring in the English international from Burnley.
The 26-year-old, who left the Wolverhampton Academy exactly 13 years ago to join Shrewsbury Town, has been one of the budding talents in the Premier League and has been more of a silver lining in a rather gloomy season for the Clarets. He scored nine goals in 32 appearances for his current club side and made a valiant effort to save their season, which was eventually successful as Burnley finished in the 16th position the last season in the league table.
However, the striker has denied to pen down a new contract with the Clarets, with his contract expiring after the next 12 months at Turf Moor. This has irked a number of clubs from the Premier League as well as the Championship to get the player in their camp for the next term. Sean Dyche, the man in charge at Turf Moor, has also agreed to the fact that the club will let go of the player, given the price is right for their prized possession.
Gray is known for his pace and prowess in the middle of the pitch along with his darting runs with the ball as well as without it, which makes him an ominous threat to the opposition. He is able to take shots from distance as well as from close range, so as to get the ball past the opposition goalkeeper. He can also strike the ball with sheer power and head it home as well to score goals for his team, thus keeping them in the advantage.
