It seems Salomon Rondon’s time has come to an end at the Hawthorns. West Bromwich Albion currently have one of the thinnest squads in the Premier League but with the arrival of Jay Rodriguez, Rondon’s chances will now gradually decrease.
The Baggies turned down a bid of £32m from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian as Tony Pulis didn’t want to lose his main striker at that time following the departure of Saido Berahino to Stoke City.
The Baggies exceeded all the expectations last season as they finished in the 10th position. They maintained themselves pretty comfortably throughout in the eighth place but a late collapse saw them take the 10th position in the Premier League table.
Rondon arrived at the club in 2012 and has finished the last two seasons as the club’s highest goal scorer. The 27-year-old managed eight goals last term but his overall stats for the Baggies are not that impressive.
Recently Hal Robson-Kanu renewed his stay at the Hawthorns so Pulis won’t be short of options in the next season. The Baggies are willing to listen to offers for the Venezuelan and here are three possible clubs where he might move to.
West Ham United
The East London outfit have been in the market for an out and out centre-forward but haven’t been able to sign anyone so far. Baggies’ willingness to sell him has put a number of clubs on red alert and Bilic should use this opportunity to seize a move for him.
Rondon has a very distinguished physical presence which helps him shrug off challenges from the defenders. In Andy Carroll, the Hammers have one of the most underrated forwards in the English football right now. Combining him up with Rondon up front could be a delight to watch.
Newcastle United
The Magpies are pretty set for the upcoming season but Benitez still wants to reshuffle his forward line. There are a number of forwards at the St James Park but Rondon’s addition would be ideal for the club.
He could spearhead the attack next season and could disburse his ample Premier League experience among players like Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Brighton & Hove Albion
The newly promoted side have been looking for a suitable Premier League striker and Rondon could be a good choice. The towering Venezuelan is not the most clinical finisher in the game but brings a different dimension to the front line. His expertise in the English top tier would be an icing on the cake for Brighton.
