Tony Pulis has done some stupendous work on the squad at the Hawthorns as he helped the Baggies to a finish in the top half of the table in the previous season. The next natural step would be to compete for a place in Europe and the manager seems ready to do what it takes to give them the best chance to finish higher in the points table next season.
Pulis has been looking at some of the most exciting players in England to add to his squad and one player now extensively linked with a move to the club is French international Moussa Sissoko.
The former Newcastle man jumped to the White Hart Lane last summer after the Magpies were relegated but having failed to score even a single goal for the Spurs last season, he is expected to be shown the door before the end of the transfer window.
Mauricio Pochettino recently revealed that Sissoko may yet have a place in his plans next season but the inconsistency shown by the versatile midfielder will surely tempt the Argentine to off load him if the right offer comes along.
Reports from The Sun claim that Pochettino is ready to take a £10m hit on his purchase and is ready to off load him for just £20m this summer. So is he a decent option for West Brom?
Known for his versatility and work rate, Sissoko is a pacey winger, who can also play in the midfield. He had a stellar time with Newcastle and with the national side in the EURO16 but failed to replicate that form in the Premier League last season.
The Baggies have a settled backline with some experienced defenders ready to help them next season. They were one of the best teams defensively in the previous season but their problems at the other end of the field meant that they could not compete for a place in Europe last season.
Pulis loves his players to put in the hard yards every game, making Sissoko a perfect fit for the Baggies. Strong in the air and smart with the possession of the ball, Sissoko is an exciting player who can make things happen, as he showed at the St James’ not so long ago.
The pressure of playing for the Spurs might have been a bit too much for his liking but at the Hawthorns, he will be allowed to express himself and could regain his lost touch. At 27, he has more than 100 Premier League appearances and 52 national team appearances making him an established star, but do you think he can help the Baggies to Europe next season?
