West Bromwich Albion played well for most of the season in the last term, especially on their home turf at the Hawthorns. However, it has been their away form that has let them down throughout last season and left them out of the top eight on the league table in the final League table.
Keeping that in mind, the Baggies are looking to make amends for their mistakes in the last season and are looking to bring in players who can be able to strengthen their team and lead them away from the late goof-ups that let them down in the previous season. The man in charge at Hawthorns, Tony Pulis, has started well in the transfer market by bagging Jay Rodriguez as their first signing of the summer.
Having brought the Southampton striker into the team, the Baggies manager has now turned his attention towards his defence, which has performed well throughout the last season and is looking to strengthen it for the next term. One of the players eyed by Pulis to be brought into the team in the summer is the Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs, who has been out of favour under the current Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
The English left back has been used in bits and pieces in the last season by the Arsenal manager, who has favoured the Spanish left back Nacho Monreal over the 27-year-old throughout the term. Now, with the arrival of another left back at the Emirates Stadium in the form of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke, the situation might not be conducive for the Englishman to find a permanent berth in the starting XI in the forthcoming season.
The Baggies are in dire need of a top class left back for their team and Gibbs can be the answer for them in the next season. West Brom, however, are expected to face heavy competition from Premier League newcomers Newcastle United, who are also looking to bag the full back for the next season in order to strengthen their squad by bringing in players who have rich experience of playing in some of the biggest teams in the Premier League.
Reportedly, the North London club are also aware of the fact that their English left back has been in demand from a number of clubs from the Premier League as well as the Championship and might look to offload him in the summer transfer window for £8 million.
