According to reports, aiming to secure services of Manchester City’s teen sensation Jadon Sancho could ensue a bidding war between North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The youngster is believed to be one of the best in Manchester City’s youth system prophesied to have a bright future and is currently not on right terms with the club.
If reports are to be believed, the 17-year-old has stalled his contract with the club in seeking opportunities elsewhere and as a form of punishment, the teenager wasn’t taken to City’s pre-season tour after he was initially included in the squad. And although City remain quite confident that the player will accept the new contract, which would earn him £30, 000-a-week, their recent antics could be the final nail in the coffin.
This has put the London clubs on red alert as both see this as the right time to snap him up from under City’s nose. Despite having a strong youth system, which has seen some of the best talents emerging over the past few years, City’s senior squad is a different story altogether. Following a terrible first season in England, manager Pep Guardiola has been on a spending spree this summer, getting in some of the best young talents from across Europe.
And that makes the chances of Sancho breaking through to the first team somewhat impossible. Hence, the winger searching for first team action elsewhere with just one year left on his scholarship deal make a lot of sense. A left wing by nature, Sancho can play on the right wing quite comfortably and is a prolific goal scorer.
Making his debut for England Under-17 back in 2016, the right-footed dazzler has scored a whopping 13 goals in 16 games. At the club level, the player scored 20 goals and managed eight assists for City in all competitions. Clearly, he is an outstanding talent to have and is expected to turn into a dangerous forward few years down the line.
And the two prime suitors available for him makes choosing his next move quite difficult. While Tottenham have broken into the limelight with some phenomenal young talents in Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Harry Winks and more under manager Mauricio Pochettino, Arsenal are known to give chance to their youth players quite early, which has seen the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Gael Clichy and more making it to the big stage.
