Manchester City are on a spending spree at the moment and are currently the frontrunner among all the top five sides in the Premier League in terms of getting in players. They have already spent millions in bringing in two highly-rated players in goalkeeper Ederson from Liga NOS Champions Benfica and winger Bernardo Silva from Ligue 1 Champions AS Monaco.
However, the club is aware of the depleting funds and the existing accumulated liabilities as a consequence of largely unused players in the squad eating up their wages. City are expecting transfer activities worth £300 million of which they expect £130 million from selling players.
Guardiola is clear in his head and knows exactly what squad he would be needing next season. And here are three players who could make their way out this summer in City’s massive clear out-
Fernando- The Brazilian midfielder has lost the manager’s trust and isn’t a regular in City’s league games. Last season he could manage only 15 appearances despite being fully fit and City losing star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan early in the season. But, Guardiola opted to go with the aged Yaya Toure alongside Fernandinho instead of giving game time to him.
Southampton have been pursuing him heavily and with City putting a small £8 million tag for him, a move is highly expected in the coming weeks. Despite being underwhelming for the Manchester outfit since arriving from FC Porto, the 29-year-old could be a tough nut in the midfield.
Fabian Delph- The former Aston Villa midfielder has been one of the great failures in Manchester City. The once highly-rated English midfielder had played a significant role for England in their 2014 World Cup qualifying rounds, but injuries have mostly kept him out of action.
The Leeds United academy product has been cursed with injuries since making his move to top-flight football. In Aston Villa, where he moved back in 2009, he missed 50 games with injuries, and moving to City has seen him missing 52 games till now. With Celtic a potential suitor, City would surely look to offload him.
Joe Hart- Guardiola has made it clear he doesn’t have the English shot-stopper in his plans. Hart still staying at Etihad would mean playing as the third-choice after Ederson and Claudio Bravo, which would mean missing out on the World Cup qualifying squad.
At 30, Hart is still one of the best keepers in the country and could be a starter for any side. City have priced him at £25 million and Manchester United could be a potential suitor for him.
