It is clear that Samir Nasri does not have a future at Manchester City as he is definitely not in Pep Guardiola’s plans. The French playmaker has been informed of the same and the club is looking for a buyer now.
Guardiola has already parted ways with some of the fringe players at the Etihad Stadium with the likes of Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta and a couple of players are expected to get the sack.
There will be no dearth of suitors for the 30-year-old but the player is under the scanner of UEFA as he has been accused of taking some illegal substances. Despite uncertainty over his future, City have taken the player on their pre-season tour and he was introduced in the second half against Manchester United.
There have been reports of his arrogance as a number of players have reportedly wanted the player to leave. If he leaves here are the three destinations he might look at.
AS Roma
After a very successful season, Roma are seeking some exciting new talents to bring under their fold to challenge for the Scudetto. They came very close last season but Juventus’ superiority proved too much for Roma as they won their sixth consecutive Serie A title.
Roma have appointed Monchi who was the sporting director at Sevilla, a club in which Nasri played last season. Monchi has restructured the scouting system at the Spanish club and is destined to emulate the same here.
Roma have been chasing Riyad Mahrez for long but Leicester City’s reluctance to lower their demand has put the deal in jeopardy. Compared to the Algerian winger, Nasri would come at almost a fourth of his price.
Everton
Guardiola is seeking a new suitor for the French midfielder and Everton could be a surprise destination. The Toffees have shown their financial strength as they have spent more than £100m in bringing new talents.
With Ross Barkley’s future in doubt, Nasri could be the ready-made alternative for Ronald Koeman.
Swansea City
Gylfi Sigurdsson is possibly on his way out from the club and Paul Clement needs to find a suitable man to replace him. Nasri has two Premier League medals during his stint with Man City and could lend his vital inputs to the side.
Affording his wage could be a major problem for the side but Swansea need to come out from their comfort zone too if they want an aggressive start next season.
