With the season scheduled to start in August, Manchester City have started a mass recruitment drive as Pep Guardiola is aiming to give the Premier League title a chase. City have already snapped up Bernardo Silva and Ederson and a number of players are expected to arrive at the Etihad Stadium.
Let us take a look at 3 players who are expected to shine in the next season.
Gabriel Jesus
The Brazilian youngster was one of the most positive things to have happened to Manchester City last season. This is the first time that Pep Guardiola finished a season without any silverware in the locker room but there are plenty of things to cherish and one of it is the emergence of Gabriel Jesus.
City supporters wouldn’t have watched him much before his arrival to the Etihad Stadium as he came from a very low key club Palmeiras. But in his short spell, he has managed to send a strong message to the fellow Premier League clubs that the lad is here to stay.
Had he not been injured, the season could have been very different for the Sky Blues. The City supporters would be praying to see the player remain fit for most of the next season as his pairing with Sergio Aguero could prove to be very lethal. So there are enough reasons for the fans to be very optimistic for the upcoming campaign.
Bernardo Silva
The first arrival to the Etihad Stadium in this summer. Bernardo Silva is one of the most exciting Portuguese talents who has been one of the hottest prospects in the world currently. City coughed up a whopping £43m as Guardiola has been using the fund to transform his team.
With the likes of David Silva already in the team, it would be very interesting to see how the Spanish gaffer uses him in the side. Bernardo is seen as a successor to Silva as the player possesses the same qualities as that of the Spanish playmaker. He is quick footed, has a precise vision of the ball and has a keen eye for the final ball.
Ederson
Guardiola’s demand to have a keeper who could pass the ball has been finally fulfilled as City signed Brazilian keeper Ederson from Benfica. Guardiola already has Claudio Bravo but with his performance in the last season, it was important for the gaffer to bring an alternate keeper.
Ederson’s distribution range is excellent and he even has an assist under his belt which makes the scenario even more exciting. He has the perfect combination to mould into the shape that Guardiola has been demanding so far.
