Swansea City are currently facing a tremendous amount of pressure to keep hold of their talismanic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, with a number of Premier League clubs looking to bag him for the next season. The Welsh club are already eyeing potential replacements for the midfielder, in case they have to let go of him in the summer transfer window.
One of the players, who is being monitored by Paul Clement, the current man in charge at the Liberty Stadium, to be brought in into the side to replace Sigurdsson in the summer is Philip Billing from Huddersfield Town. The 21-year-old is one of the best young prospects in Danish football in the current scenario and has played a pivotal role in the last season to get his team promoted into the Premier League from the Championship.
Billing made 16 appearances for his club in the last term and played well to be recognised as one of the brightest talents in European football. The youngster joined the Terriers in 2013 and has been playing an important role in the midfield for them. His pace and prowess have attracted a lot of praise from the football fraternity, as well has irked interests from a number of clubs from the Premier League as well as the Championship including the Swans.
The 21-year-old central midfielder is known for his wonderful ball control and mesmerising footwork, which has been a cause of concern for the opposition defenders throughout the last couple of seasons in the Championship. However, now that he is in the Premier League, he will have to upgrade his playing style and contemplate over the loopholes in his game to become a significant threat in front of top class defenders from the clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and defending champions Chelsea.
Swansea City had a disastrous season in the last term, which saw them finish right on the brink of elimination from the Premier League, in the 15th position on the league table. This season, however, the Welsh club management are looking forward to not repeat the mistakes of the previous season and finish as high as possible in the Premier League.
That, though, looks quite difficult if they don’t have enough players in their team, who can be able to strengthen their side for the next term and give them some positive results. Philip Billing can definitely be one of them, in case he is brought into the club to replace Gylfi Sigurdsson, who might join Everton in the summer.
