Swansea City are planning to bring in Wilfried Bony to Wales next season. The Ivorian centre forward endured a miserable last season but Paul Clement believes the addition of the Manchester City forward would give them an edge in the upcoming season.
Swansea are believed to be interested in bringing the City flop into their fold. The forward was shipped on loan to Stoke City but he flattered to deceive for the Potters.
The 28-year old hasn’t travelled with the Manchester City squad to the United States Of America as he has been told to search for a new club. His future is depending heavily on Fernando Llorente who has been on the wishlist of Antonio Conte.
Also, the Spaniard is due to miss a significant period of the Premier League having fractured his arm. City spent a whopping £28m for the ex-Swansea player but would be looking for a minimal amount to get rid of the player.
Bony hogged the limelight during his spell at the Liberty Stadium. The hit man scored a staggering 35 goals for the Welsh side in 70 appearances. Clement had his problems last season as his side struggled for goals.
He had to rely on veteran Llorente for goals but he doesn’t want to take chances in the next season. Clement is planning to build his side around Gylfi Sigurdsson who has been the in demand player.
The prospect of combining Sigurdsson with Bony is very tempting as the player’s physicality and technical ability could be ideal for the Swans. One of the best finishers in the Premier League, the Ivorian striker would be looking for a chance to revive his career and Liberty Stadium would be the perfect set up for him to flourish.
The forward is very well accustomed with the Welsh club having started his Premier League journey from there. There are doubts over his ability after his performance last season but the fact that he is currently 28 would give Clement a chance to use him properly.
Swansea finished the season on a positive note after they survived the drop in a stunning fashion and Clement would love to continue the momentum in the next season.
He had the chance to make a move to the cash rich Chinese Super League but he preferred to stay in the Premier League as he has been trying hard to give his career an uplift.
