Swansea City are looking forward to making amends for their mistakes in the last season, which led them down the ladder in the league table and made them finish their season right on the brink of relegation from the Premier League in the 15th position. The Welsh club are eyeing a number of players to be brought into the club who might make it a stronger one in the next term.
The Swans are in contention to hold onto their mainstay in the midfield, Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has been nothing less than a talisman for his team since his arrival at the club. The last season saw him perform really well for his team, becoming the sole reason to survive the battle of relegation and secure their place in top flight football for one more season. The Icelandic midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs including the likes of Everton and Tottenham and is poised to leave the club in the summer.
In case Sigurdsson leaves the club, it will be really tough for the Swans to stabilise the midfield in the next term. Paul Clement, current man in charge has been looking forward to bring in players who can step up as replacements for the Icelandic central midfielder, and they have got their eyes on the Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The English international has been one of the brightest players in the Premier League and is considered to have a good future ahead. However, he has been prone to injuries, which ate up a major chunk of his career at the North London club and pushed him down the pecking order in his club line-up.
The 25-year-old was sent on loan to play at Bournemouth in the last term, where he made a good impression for his team and displayed a solid performance for the Cherries in a central midfield position. However, now the season is over, he has returned to Arsenal and might be used in bits and pieces by Arsene Wenger in the next season.
Reportedly, the player might be looking to make a move out of the Emirates Stadium and look for a club which will provide him more opportunities to feature in the starting line-up. Looking at the current situation, the Welsh club might be looked upon by Wilshere as a perfect option to fit his bill for the next season. However, his fitness issues can be a major problem for him in securing a move to Swansea.
