Southampton are looking forward to making their new season a better one than the last term, which was quite disappointing for them in terms of results. In addition to that, the Saints had quite a few injuries on their list throughout the season, which made it difficult for them to get an upper hand over their opponents on many occasions, and they had to finish their season in the eighth position on the League table.
The South Coast club, with a new coach at the helm in the form of Mauricio Pellegrino, are looking to bring in quite a few players into their side for the new season and make a strong start to their new term. The wily tactician, who was the former coach of the outfit Alaves playing in the Spanish La Liga, is eyeing some players who have attracted interests from a number of clubs around Europe with their dazzling footwork and scoring record, and one of them is the Barcelona youngster Munir El Haddadi.
The 21-year-old rose through the ranks at the Spanish club, and was a part of the Barcelona starting line-up on a few occasions during the 2015/16 season, making 26 appearances in total for the Catalan giants throughout the term. He was brilliant on the right wing for his side and scored 8 goals for them, apart from setting up 7 for his teammates as well. However, he was sent on loan to join fellow La Liga outfit Valencia in the next season to have an increased number of outings on the pitch.
At Valencia, the Spanish international played some of the best football of his career so far, appearing in 36 matches for Los Che, and scoring on seven occasions for them throughout the season. El Haddadi also made three assists for his teammates in the last season and was brilliant in the middle of the pitch with his footwork.
Mauricio Pellegrino has a good knowledge about the skills of the 21-year-old attacker and might be able to use him in the attacking front quite well. El Haddadi can also consider a move to the Premier League outfit, now that he has returned to his old club Barcelona, and it is quite unlikely that he will be given a chance in the starting line-up in the new season as well.
The Spanish youngster, who has been valued at £12 million by Barcelona, can add the much-needed edge to the attacking options for the Saints, which is largely resting upon Manolo Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin for the new term.
