Since Kylian Mbappe’s emergence in the Ligue 1 with Monaco, a number of high profile clubs including Real Madrid have been chasing him this summer. The French youngster has been the most shining prospect among the young crop of players at the Stade Louis II recently.
Mbappe is a part of Florentino Perez’s mega plan to establish Los Blancos as one of the most successful clubs of this decade. But Monaco’s tough stance for the French youngster has so far barred them from taking the player to Spain.
Madrid won’t wait long for the player and they have already chalked a backup plan if they fail to agree on a deal this summer. According to reports, The club hierarchy has identified Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo as a potential alternative for the French sensation.
Monaco have already made their intentions clear and are planning to register a complaint with FIFA over some unlawful events regarding the transfer of Mbappe. The French outfit accuses that some clubs have made engagements with the player and his representative without taking prior permission.
Berardi is seen as the future of Italian football. The 22-year-old has made himself a popular figure through the various levels of the Italian national set-up. At this tender age, he has become the highest goal scorer for the Serie-A club with 59 goals, so there is no doubt over his talents.
The right winger has a first of a kind contract as half of his rights are currently owned by Italian champions Juventus who see the player as the future of the Turin outfit. If the player wants to leave, they will have the first option to bring him to the Juventus Stadium for a fee of €25m.
Berardi has been a very underrated winger until now, but his performances in the recent U-21 European Championship has caught the attention of many clubs. His playing style is mainly based on flair and his sudden bursts of pace behind the defenders which will be a great asset for any team.
He can be compared with the likes of Isco but if given sufficient chances, he could soon prove to be an upgrade on the Spanish international. Also, he is not going to hurt the Madrid coffers too much and could be available for almost one-third of the price what Real are ready to spend on Mbappe.
The youngster has some serious problem with his discipline but considering his immense talent it can be overlooked as of now. But is he the right man for Real Madrid?
