A couple of weeks ago, Scottish Premiership outfit, Rangers, saw their third bid to lure Heart of Midlothian’s midfielder, Jamie Walker, to the Ibrox Stadium getting rejected (as reported by the Daily Record). The Gers tabled a £500,000 bid to secure the services of Walker but Hearts’ manager, Ian Cathro, had stated that he is worth at least £1million, considering that he topped the goal scoring chart of the club as he banged 12 Premiership goals last season.
The fee, however, is very justifiable. Rangers have been very busy this summer in their recruitments as Pedro Caixinha is making the necessary ramifications to bolster his squad in order to impose themselves as a serious title contender in the upcoming campaign. The Glasgow based club have already brought many new fresh faces to the side, including Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Carlos Pena, Alfredo Morelos, Graham Dorrans and Daniel Candeias, signing Walker would give them a huge impetus to excel in a fully fledged manner.
Recently, the 24-year-old was dropped from the squad of Hearts for the League Cup encounter against Dunfermline, which did raise a lot of eyebrows and murmurs. It is obviously perceived that the Light Blues are doing the requisite chores behind the scenes and are attempting to make Walker sign above the dotted line, and if they can successfully bring him to their ranks, they would have all the ingredients to be a formidable side in the coming seasons.
Walker emerged through the youth ranks of the Jambos, and has gone on to be one of the most instrumental figures for his employers. Last season, it was evident that the Teddy Bears lack the cutting edge and found it pretty hard to score goals and thus, their apparent interest to sign the Scot makes perfect sense, for he is a midfielder who constantly aims to create something in the final third, bring his teammates into the equation and also, he himself attempts to bang goals on a regular basis.
Besides, he has accumulated truckloads of experience under his belt and has the requisite knowledge of Scottish football. His contract expires in a year and considering that he is reluctant to extend his stay at the Tynecastle Stadium, which implies that he is vouching for an outlet this summer. Rangers will undoubtedly be a good destination for him and if the former Al-Gharafa boss successfully manages to bring him under his stewardship, they will lay their hands on one of the finest assets available in the country.
