Things haven’t gone smoothly for Carlo Ancelotti as he would have hoped in the pre-season preparations as his side were thumped 4:0 by re surging AC Milan this weekend. Goals from Kessie, Calhanoglu and a brace from Cutrone sealed the sensation victory for the Italians.
For Bayern, things are bound to get tougher as they face English Champions Chelsea FC on Tuesday. Chelsea, on the back of an impressive 3:0 win over Arsenal will feel confident of their performance against Bayern Munich. Here is the predicted Bayern Munich lineup expected to face Antonio Conte’s troops on Tuesday.
Goalkeeper: Young goalkeeper Christian Fruchtl is expected to start as the Bayern goalkeeper. The 17-year-old has been promoted to the first team this season following the retirement of veteran goalkeeper Tom Starke.
Right Back: Following the retirement of club icon Philipp Lahm, Rafinha will have to play a vital role this upcoming season. The underrated Brazilian wingback will start on the right hand of defence for Bayern.
Centre Back: Javi Martinez will move back to his customary centre back position after an awful performance playing as a central defensive midfielder. Milan players used his lack of pace and mobility to good effect. However, Martinez is certainly a lot stronger playing as a centre back.
Centre Back: Mats Hummels‘ poor pass opened the door for Milan to score the third goal. The former Borussia Dortmund defender will be looking to improve on his performances against Chelsea.
Left Back: David Alaba might start as the left back for the Bavarians. It will be an interesting tussle between him and Chelsea for sure.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal was recently linked with a move to Manchester United(here’s a SWOT analysis on the midfielder). He will be looking to make a big impact against Chelsea.
Central Midfielder: New signing Corentin Tolisso was pretty bad against AC Milan. The former Lyon midfielder let in Hakan Calhanoglu to attempt a clear shot on goal, which resulted in Bayern conceding the fourth goal of the match. He will be looking to make amends after a poor performance.
Central Midfielder: It might be the last match for Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, who is strongly linked with a move to Manchester United. The former Benfica whiz kid was subjected to lack of playing time last season and that trend is set to continue in the new season as well. So he will be seeking a move abroad with a strong show against Chelsea this Tuesday.
Right Midfielder: Thomas Muller is a strong candidate to start against Chelsea. Antonio Conte was said to be interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Chelsea. However, Bayern will make sure why their star man is not for sale.
Left Midfielder: Franck Ribery recently claimed that he wants more play time at Bayern. Even though he has a very good relationship with coach Carlo Ancelotti, the Frenchman wants to be involved more in Bayern’s success. At 33, Ribery hasn’t yet shown any signs of deteriorating.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski has been one of the few players who impressed in the pre-season so far. The goal-scoring abilities of the Polish International will be put into test against the hard working Chelsea team.
