Newcastle United are planning to revive their interest in Sheyi Ojo of Liverpool. The winger has fallen down the pecking order at the Anfield and Rafa Benitez seems to be very encouraged by the scenario.
Newcastle have agreed to sign Jacob Murphy from Norwich City but Rafa Benitez has made his intention clear he wants both the players at the St James’ Park next season.
The Toon ventured into the transfer market very slowly but have gathered pace off late. They have signed Florian Lejeune from Eibar but the Magpies’ boss is determined to sign a number of players to accumulate a quality and deep squad next season.
Jürgen Klopp is an avid admirer of Sheyi Ojo and doesn’t have any problem letting him go but only for a short term move. It was reported that the Toons are planning to offer as much as £10m for the player but the veteran Spanish manager has quashed the speculation.
The Magpies are also in line for a loan move as Benitez is looking for some potential youth players to inject some pace into the side. Having lifted the Championship title last term, there would be immense expectations from the supporters this season.
Middlesbrough are also planning a move for the player as Garry Monk is keen to strengthen his blunt attack. The ex-Leeds United manager has a particular fascination to work with the youngsters and Ojo could be a surprise inclusion.
The 20-year-old made just nine appearances last season and next season too it would be very difficult for him to muster a regular place in the starting lineup.
The player has shown all the qualities and could get some regular game time which could enhance his development. The departure of Yoan Gouffran also came as a blow for the Spanish gaffer as the player has joined Turkish side Goztepe Sk.
Gouffran was offered a new deal but he turned down the lucrative offer from the club and choose to leave St James’ Park.
Middlesbrough are acting pretty fast to land Ojo but Benitez is confident he can snap the player by using his Liverpool connection. The Spaniard was the manager of the Reds for a long period and wants to use his good relationship with the club.
Ojo shouldn’t have any problem leaving the club as he is eying more game time in a bid to establish himself in the Premier League.
