It seems Manchester United might hijack another deal from right under the nose of Chelsea. The Blues already saw their target Romelu Lukaku switching his allegiance to the Red Devils and they could lose Tiemoue Bakayoko to their archrivals Manchester United.
The stage was set for a coveted reunion with Lukaku as the Blues were leading the chase. But United stepped up their efforts at the last moment after failing to agree a deal with Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata. United have agreed on a £75m deal with Everton for the Belgian striker who has undergone a medical with the club.
If reports are to be believed, Manchester United have renewed their interest in Tiemoue Bakayoko. The lanky French midfielder has long been on the wish list for Antonio Conte but they are yet to strike a deal for the French player.
Monaco have reportedly gone frustrated over the lack of professionalism from the West London club and now are ready to entertain any other suitors for the French international.
So far United have failed to lure any of their reported midfield targets be it Fabinho or Nemanja Matic. The Red Devils are ready to test Monaco’s resolve with a much-improved bid for Bakayoko.
Jose Mourinho has prioritised the signing of a midfielder after struggling throughout the last season. He wants a dynamic presence just behind Paul Pogba in the midfield to lead the charge in the next season.
Bakayoko has been the flag bearer for Monaco till now but he has all the qualities to make it to the top in the English Premier League. He has some exciting dribbling skills and his physicality would let Pogba play with more freedom.
Mourinho was interested in Nemanja Matic as the Portuguese gaffer was very keen to bring the Serbian under his fold. But the move of Lukaku has cooled all the possibilities.
So Mourinho has now turned his attention to Bakayoko. Conte has already been dealt a major blow in the pursuit of Lukaku and if the club somehow fails to crack a deal for the midfielder, Conte might reconsider his future with the West Londoners.
There has already been a much-improved contract on the table but he is yet to sign on the dotted lines. And if the situation remains the same, it is going to be a very difficult period for the Blues.
