Manchester United have recently made one of the biggest signings in their history, as they brought in the Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton for £75 million in order to add firepower to their side for the next term. However, they are not looking finished as of yet and are poised to raid the Merseyside club once again in order to bag their reliable midfielder, Ross Barkley.
The Englishman, whose future with the Toffees has been in doldrums due to a problem in signing a new contract with them, is reportedly looking not to extend his stay at Goodison Park in the next season. The attacking midfielder, who is considered to be one of the best in the Premier League might be making a move out of the team in the next term, with an array of clubs, including the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and defending champions Chelsea looking to bag the player for the next term.
Manchester United have been looking to bring in a number of players for the next season, in order to rebuild their side. The man in charge, Jose Mourinho, is aware of the fact that his club will have to play in the Champions League in the next term and will be facing a number of top clubs from all over Europe.
As a result, he will need players like Barkley to be a part of his side for the next season to strengthen his midfield, which has not performed so well in the last term.
The Red Devils brought in players like Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to strengthen their side during the last summer transfer window but were unable to book a place in the top four in the Premier League table. However, their cup winning performance in the UEFA Europa League made it sure for the former Premier League champions that they will be playing in the Champions League in the next season, and will require reinforcements to be brought into the side for the next season.
A player like Barkley, who has been playing a pivotal role for the Toffees in the last few seasons in stabilising their midfield, can be a good addition to the squad for the Red Devils as they are eyeing someone to pair with Mkhitaryan, Pogba and Herrera, giving that much-needed edge to the midfield, which has been an area of concern for the Red Devils in the last season.
