Premier League has seen a number of top arrivals since the last season as clubs have splashed millions and millions in bringing some of the most high profile players. Since the new TV deal was brokered, smaller clubs have also flexed their financial muscle in the transfer market to give the mightier clubs stiff completion.
Following an impressive last season, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri allowed his manager Ronald Koeman to spend freely in the transfer market as the Dutch manager has been overseeing an overhaul.
Let us take a look at the Costliest XI of this Premier League transfer window.
Goalkeeper
Ederson
The idea of deploying a ball playing keeper forced Pep Guardiola to bring Claudio Bravo from Barcelona last season but the Chilean failed to judge the severity of the Premier League as Pep had to seek the help of his second choice keeper Willy Caballero pretty often.
Amidst the confusion, City splashed a staggering £34.7m for the Brazilian shot stopper and he is expected to spearhead the City defence next season. He will have the burden of his price tag and Pep would rely a lot on the 23-year old.
Right back
Kyle Walker
Walker became the most expensive defender in England after City splurged a staggering £50m to bring the right back to the Etihad Stadium. Solving the full back problem was one of the main concerns for Pep as he had released all the available full backs at his disposal after the season got over.
Left back
Benjamin Mendy
Another high profile arrival to the Etihad. Mendy became the latest member of the expensive City back line as the English outfit paid Monaco a whopping £52m for his services thus making sure Walker’s record was a short one.
Centre-back
Antonio Rudiger
Chelsea’s defensive performance was pretty convincing last season but Antonio Conte has been very determined to add a defender to the ranks after Terry’s departure and his desire got fulfilled when Chelsea brought in Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma.
Centre-back
Jose Mourinho brought Victor Lindelof from Benfica to solve the current defensive crisis at the Old Trafford.
Midfield
Tiemoue Bakayoko
After much drama, Chelsea, at last, had the last laugh as they brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco. The French midfielder impressed heavily in the last season which earned him a big ticket move to the Premier League.
Marko Arnautovic
A number of Stoke City supporters got very surprised when West Ham United announced the signing of their star winger Marko Arnautovic as the Austrian winger was touted to be the focal point of Stoke’s attack next season.
Mohamed Salah
After a tug of war Liverpool, at last, won the race to land the Egyptian winger. Salah’s excellence in the Serie A brought him to the Premier League for the second time.
Attack
Bernardo Silva
A prized catch by Pep Guardiola. Bernardo Silva is the latest addition to Manchester City’s flamboyant attack. It would be a delight to watch him play in the City colours next season.
Romelu Lukaku
Manchester United paid a whopping £90m with add-ons to Everton to hijack the player from under the nose of Chelsea.
Alvaro Morata
He was supposed to join Manchester United but some last minute change of plans landed him at Stamford Bridge.
