The ongoing tussle over Neymar’s potential move to Paris has shaken the transfer market. Paris Saint Germain are ready to steal the Brazilian from Barcelona by paying his mammoth release clause which is believed to be in the range of £200m.
Unlike other years, Liverpool has shown some serious intention in the transfer business as they have already roped in Dominic Solanke from Chelsea, Mohamed Salah from AS Roma and Andy Robertson from Hull City.
Jurgen Klopp is thought to have targeted a number of players to bring that much-needed balance but currently, the scenario is a bit difficult. And to add to it, Barcelona have a contingency plan in place and it is understood Philippe Coutinho is their primary target if they lose their Brazilian winger.
The Liverpool star’s rise to prominence hasn’t gone unnoticed and the Catalans are set to lure him to the Camp Nou this summer. The Reds are very reluctant to let go of their most prized asset, but if he does opt to follow the path of Luis Suarez, Liverpool are aiming to raid Borussia Dortmund for the services of Christian Pulisic.
This is just Pulisic’s second season in the senior set-up and his reluctance to sell for the German giants speaks volumes about his capabilities. Liverpool have plenty of room to fit in a couple of players and Pulisic’s arrival will probably enhance their attack a bit more.
The 18-year-old is one of the leading youngsters in the European circuit and also a huge prospect for the United States of America. It will be very difficult to match Coutinho’s flair and visionary passing but Pulisic has that potential in him to succeed the Brazilian quite comfortably.
His tender age probably is an advantage, as he won’t feel too much pressure already. Predominantly a right winger, the youngster can be stationed anywhere across the front three.
He has been a regular for the Dortmund side and will be demanding a regular role if he arrives at the Anfield. Currently, Klopp is poised to play with a 4-3-3 system which is more evenly balanced. In this formation, Coutinho is destined to take one of the flanks and Sadio Mane should be on the other wing.
Given the current system, Pulisic won’t fit into this and Klopp might have to tweak his system, in a bid to provide the youngster with a starting role. The added burden of the Champions League will also make Klopp rethink again about his squad depth. Although currently there are a plethora of young attackers in the side, the arrival of the USA international could be the icing on the cake.
