Liverpool are busy in their pre-season in Asia but the club is not hiding away from the transfer market as reports suggest that they are close to announcing their third signing of the summer. Trusted news source Liverpool Echo have now revealed that Liverpool are set to announce the signing of Hull City full-back Andrew Robertson very very soon.
The Scottish international was subject to a medical at the club today ahead of a £10m move to Anfield, where he is expected to spell the end of Spanish full-back Alberto Moreno. The former Sevilla star failed to have the desired impact on the club in his three years and is expected to be shown the door before the start of the next season.
Known for his pace, Robertson is a decent mix of attacking quality and defensive instincts and was one of the very few players, who could keep their head held high after the season that saw the Tigers relegated. The 23-year old managed three assists and one goal last season, which is not promising but the fact that he solves an impending problem at the club, is making the fans of the club excited.
Though coming from a relegated club, Robertson is the first choice for club and country and the moment but he is not expected to be thrown into the mix straight away. Liverpool used English international James Milner at left-back and though he showed a few frailties, he is expected to start as the first choice next season.
Robertson, though the first choice left back for his country, is only expected to act as an understudy to the versatile English star and at just 23, he will surely improve as a player under the training of Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool’s backup last year was Alberto Moreno, who is nowhere close to dependable at the back and Robertson is a genuine improvement in this area. Though coming from a relegated club, he has what it takes to be successful at the highest level and having made 57 appearances in the top flight, he is surely going to be the first choice for the Reds in years to come.
He is expected to cost no more than £10m and in this transfer market, he is an absolute steal. He solves an impending problem at Anfield that needs immediate solutions and though he may not be the best option available, Liverpool are ready to place faith in him, which could be fruitful in years to come. Do you think Robertson is the right man for Liverpool?
