Jurgen Klopp seems to be a man on a mission as he has already made a couple of excellent additions to his squad at Anfield for the next season. There are a few other positions that need to be strengthened but Liverpool are finding it hard to get deals done for their top transfer targets this summer.
However, every now and then, they have been linked with players from around the world, who will improve the squad but are not a necessity at the moment. One such player is Bayern Munich star, Thomas Muller.
According to German news outfit Bild, the versatile German attacker is now attracting interests from Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus along with Liverpool. The club president maintains that Muller is still a big part of the squad at the Allianz Arena but with first team appearances hard to come by under Carlo Ancelotti, the player might be tempted to make a move this summer, in search of new challenges.
It will be a pleasant change for Jurgen Klopp to be able to sign a Bayern Munich player, after his stint with Borussia Dortmund, which saw him lose at least one player every summer to the German giants. But is Muller a player Liverpool need at the moment?
Having won almost everything possible in Germany, Muller is a one of his kind player, who could probably be as effective a striker as he is a centre back. Though he has never quite played as a CB, Muller is one of the most versatile attackers on show in Europe and with 96 goals and 96 assists in 257 Bundesliga appearances, is one of the most established stars at the highest level.
He has also made 85 appearances for the national side and can walk into any team in Europe at the moment, including Liverpool, but that will mean that Klopp might have to push a couple of players down the pecking order.
Known for his positioning and finishing abilities, Muller is a poacher, whose genius helps him be at the right place in the final third during an attack. His technique, composure under pressure and ball retention abilities are all tailor made for the Premier League but at Anfield, he is far from an immediate requirement.
Liverpool have spent on Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke to add to their attack while the likes of Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings are expected to fight for the striker’s role next season. Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho are expected to be first choice players next season, leaving literally no space for Muller.
The 27-year old will sure improve the squad at Anfield but it is hard to see Klopp make a move for him unless he decides to sell one his star players. So do you think Muller is a player who might move to Anfield this summer?
