Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Barcelona’s Neymar is no longer a mystery and with every passing day, the links are getting stronger. His move will leave a massive void in Blaugrana’s attacking set-up and impliedly, Barca are looking for a replacement for the worst case scenario. Apparently, the Catalans have put Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho on their radar, with the Brazilian international himself wanting a move to Camp Nou this summer.
For a fee of about £133m or so, the Premier League outfit are resigned to losing one of their star players but are ready to splash the cash and make an astute replacement.
According to Le 10 Sport, the Reds are now pondering over making a move for Monaco’s winger Thomas Lemar. The 21-year-old has been one of the prime targets for Arsenal in this summer transfer window, but the Ligue1 champions are reluctant to sell him.
The Red and Whites have already lost key players like Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva and let’s not forget to mention that their star striker Kylian Mbappe is seemingly likely to be lured away either by Real Madrid or Manchester City for a world-record fee.
Their yardsticks will be high in the upcoming campaign and thus, it goes without saying that they will have to be tempted with a humungous sum of money by the Kop in order to lure Lemar to Anfield.
The French international is a player of fine calibre and there are no perceptions about the same. An adept set-piece taker, the former Caen man, who operates with a great composure on the ball, is capable enough to dribble with both feet and has the requisite pace in his legs to rattle the opposition’s defence. He passes the ball really well, has an exemplary technical understanding of the game and has shown a lot more maturity than the players of his age group generally have on offer.
Besides, he creates spaces in a shrewd manner and has the undeniable knack of not just scoring goals but also of creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities for his teammates as well.
Lemar banged nine goals and registered 10 assists to his name in 34 appearances in the French top division and no wonder why his stocks have risen incredibly. Jurgen Klopp’s men have a tough season ahead of them, with Champions League commitments as well, and someone like Lemar can meticulously render them a helping hand, especially if they lose their Brazilian talisman.
