Liverpool have started their summer transfer business in the best possible way and have already bagged one of the in-form attacking midfielders in the current scenario in the form of Mohamed Salah from Italian giants AS Roma as their first major signing of the season. Apart from the Egyptian midfielder, they have also been able to lay their hands on one of the finest young talents in the country in the form of Dominic Solanke, whom they brought in from arch rivals Chelsea.
The Reds are well aware of the fact that they will be facing some of the biggest teams in Europe in the forthcoming season, as they clinched a place in the top four with their gallant performances, ensuring that they will be playing in the UEFA Champions League. This has called for a number of top class players to be brought into the team and make it a successful campaign for the next season in the Premier League as well as in Europe.
The Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been looking to strengthen his defence for the next season and has been looking to rope in one of the talented young defenders in European football in the form of Argentine centre back Emanuel Mammana, who has been currently playing for the French Ligue 1 club, Lyon.
The Reds have reportedly made a bid worth £14.9 million in order to bag the youngster from his current club. The German mastermind has been a bit sceptical about his defence in the recent times, with the option of French centre-back Mamadou Sakho looking to leave Anfield in the summer, as he has been hugely underplayed and was sent on loan to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace to end the season there after the manager and the defender fell out with each other in the last season.
Liverpool also tried their best to bring in the Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk as the summer transfer window was on the verge of opening, but with the Saints accusing them of trying to negotiate a deal with their prized possession without their recognition, the Reds had to give up the pursuit of their top target this summer, and had to apologise publicly for the alleged “tapping-up“.
Mammana has been contracted with Lyon till 2021 and might be open to a move to Liverpool, given the two clubs reach an agreement via discussion. Until then, he has denied discussing any personal terms with the Reds. He has made 17 appearances for his club so far.
