Leeds United have come out of the disappointment of their last season, which saw them finish in the seventh position on the League table in the last term, thus missing out on a position to play in the Championship playoffs. As an aftermath of the result, their former coach Garry Monk also left the side within the next few days.
However, now the Whites are looking forward to a telling impact in the Championship and make their way back into the top tier under the tutelage of their new coach Thomas Christiansen, the former Spanish international. The Elland Road club is looking to bring in new players into their squad to strengthen it for the new season and have their eyes on quite a few, who have been performing consistently for their respective clubs in the last few terms.
Reportedly, the Whites have their eyes on the captain of their fellow Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers, Danny Batth, who has been one of the most prolific performers of the last season. The 26-year-old has played 191 games for the Wolves so far and has been rock solid in their defence since his arrival in the year 2009.
Leeds United are looking forward to building a strong defence in the next season, bringing in someone who can share the responsibilities along with Pontus Janssen, and in the current situation, Batth looks to be the perfect option to fit the bill of the Spanish coach of the Whites. The player has been one of the most wanted defenders in the Championship and it will be great for the Elland Road club if they can get a hand on the Wolves captain.
Wolves, who have also got themselves a new coach in the form of the Portuguese mastermind Nuno Espirito Santo from the Primeira Liga outfit Porto, have already brought in defenders like Willy Boly on loan from Porto, Roderick Miranda from Rio Ave and Ryan Bennett on a free transfer from fellow Championship club Norwich. So, it is understood that if they let go of their inspirational captain Batth in the summer, which they are reportedly willing to do, it will not be a big problem for Santo’s men to hold their fort in the next term.
The 26-year-old defender, with his towering presence in the heart of the defence, can be a very important addition to the squad for the Whites in their next season. He is reportedly available for a transfer fee of £2 million.
