Leeds United made it very close to the Championship playoffs in the last season but finally, could not make it into the top six due to some late goof-ups. This time, however, the Whites are looking to make amends for their dismal performance in the later stages of the last season, by boosting their side with new signings in the summer transfer window.
The Elland Road club are eyeing a number of players for the next season to be brought into their team in order to strengthen it. The Whites have already let go of quite a few of their players and have brought in new ones in order to give their squad a revamped look. They are now looking forward to adding a good striker to their roster for the new season.
Reportedly, the new manager of the Elland Road club, Thomas Christiansen, who is an ex-Spanish international himself, is eyeing the Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo to be brought into the Championship club for the next season. The Spaniard spent the last season on loan at Middlesbrough and has now moved back to his current club Valencia.
The former Manchester City striker, who won both the Premier League and the League Cup in the 2013/14 season with the Citizens, made a fair contribution to his team with 10 goals to his name. However, it was not enough for Middlesbrough to save their season, as they got relegated to the second tier, with the 31-year-old making a move back to Spain to re-join Valencia.
However, he has been adjudged as surplus to the current squad and is poised to make a move back to English football in the summer. This has irked a number of clubs to make a bid to bring in the player for the next season, including Leeds United, who are currently in need of a top class striker to spearhead their attack.
The Elland Road club, who already have a good striker like Chris Wood at their disposal, might look forward to pairing him with Negredo in order to make their attack one of the most lethal in the Championship in the next summer. Thomas Christiansen should be quite excited about the prospect of the two strikers playing together that might be able to help them achieve their much-coveted target of making it into the Championship playoffs in the next season and eventually head back into the Premier League after a long gap of 14 years.
