Ronald Koeman is no mood to take this summer transfer window lightly and is doing all he can to make sure that Everton are ready to mount a serious challenge in the Premier League next season. The manager has already added some stellar stars to his squad but is still looking at a couple of additions, that can help them next season.
Having allowed Romelu Lukaku to join Manchester United in a big money deal, the Dutch manager has already spent on Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaassen in attack for the next season but Lukaku is a huge loss and Koeman wants to make sure that his team do not feel his absence in the upcoming campaign.
So Everton are still looking to add another attacker or two this summer and one player extensively linked with a move to the club recently is Tottenham Hotspur star Moussa Sissoko. It is understood that the Merseyside outfit are ready to purchase him but are also entertaining a loan deal, which was rejected by the Spurs.
The French international agreed to move to Everton on deadline day last summer but a late, late bid from Tottenham Hotspur saw him make a £30m switch to London, keeping Everton hanging. Koeman was disappointed to miss out on his services but Sissoko failed to impress Pochettino in his stint at the capital and is expected to be sold this season.
The 27-year-old failed to score a single goal last season in 34 appearances, most of which came off the bench, but he was not given enough time at the club that was trying for the title last season.
Known for his industry and work rate, Sissoko is a speedy winger, who can also play effectively in a midfield role. He is smart and is usually a step ahead in the game while his technical ability makes him a dangerous player to face. He has exceptional ball control while his strength only adds to his retention abilities.
At 27, he has 192 League 1 games and 143 Premier League games under his belt already and with Pochettino ready to off load him for less than the £30m they brought him for, it is no surprise that Everton are set to renew their interest in the player.
Though he has not been in great form, Everton needs a proven winger who can come to the fore next season and Sissoko has all the makings to walk into the first team at the Goodison Park and help them take the next step in years to come. His experience and ability will surely give Everton an edge but is Sissoko the right man for the Toffees?
