Ronald Koeman has by far been the busiest manager in the Premier League but having lost his top goal scorer in Romelu Lukaku to a big money move to Manchester United, it is understandable that the manager is looking to bring in as many options as possible, to aid a charge in the points table next season.
They have already added quite a few players in almost every position in the first team but Koeman is still adamant to add some more stars and one such player extensively linked with a move to the club for more than a month now is Nice star Jean-Michael Seri.
One of the most wanted midfielders in world football at the moment, Seri had a stellar time for the League 1 outfit last campaign, where he helped them to a place in the Champions League for the next season.
Also wanted by Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, the Ivory Coast star is now a transfer target for Everton, according to a recent report from the Sun. The news agency claim that they are fed up with the lack of progress made in a deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City and have now decided to move in for Seri this summer.
A central midfielder by trait, Seri played as a part of the midfield duo last season in France and notched up nine assists and seven goals in 34 games, acting as the first choice for the club last season. He played as the deepest of the midfielders and showcased his ability to dictate the game and frustrate the opponents, even against the best teams in the country last season.
With loads of strength and a commendable work load, Seri is a dynamic player who can improve most teams in Europe and Everton are surely going to be a better team, if they are able to land this Ivorian.
The Blues are expected to use Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye in the middle of a 4-2-3-1 formation while Tom Davies and Gareth Barry are expected to be the backups. This is not a midfield that can blow teams away and Koeman will know that.
Everton have a decent defensive lineup and an exciting attacking line-up at the moment, having spent insanely on a number of players this summer. But they are surely a bit short on central midfielders and it does not come as a surprise that they are looking at one of the most exciting players in this position in Europe at the moment.
But Koeman should act fast, as Arsenal are now taking steps to sign the 26-year old this summer. His valuation of £36m may be a deterrent but do you think Everton should sign Seri?
