Ronald Koeman has been a busy manager since the end of the previous season as he was given an assignment to make sure that Everton can replace their top goal scorer from the previous season, Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United a week or two ago.
The Blues finished seventh in the points table and the Dutch manager is determined to make sure that they have all the utilities that they need to make sure that they finish higher in the points table next season. This has seen Koeman make some serious transfers already at the club and the latest player linked with a move to the Goodison Park is Spanish star Jonathan Viera.
A product of the Las Palmas Academy in Spain, Viera has played for four different Spanish clubs in his career so far, before moving back to his boyhood club in 2015. Ever since, he has cemented a place in the first team under Manolo Marquez, making some crucial appearances for the side last season.
Capable of playing in a variety of positions, Viera was at his best in the previous season when used as a left-winger in attack but he is also capable of playing as a central midfielder or as a support striker as well. With seven goals and eight assists in the Spanish top flight last season, he showed that he is an established star in the previous season and Koeman wants him as a part of his attack next season.
Known for his pace and exceptional dribbling abilities, Viera has ball control which is right up there with the best in the game. He relies more on short passes than on crosses, even playing as a winger and his vision helps him create chances galore, even against the toughest of sides in Europe.
At 27, he is just into his prime as a footballer and Koeman will want him to play as a winger, adding some mettle to his attack for the upcoming campaign. Having already signed Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez to add to his attacking unit, Koeman is now looking for a top class winger who can change the dynamic of the squad and Viera seems a good fit.
He is experienced and established at the highest level and though he is not the big name that Everton fans want this summer, he is a riskless investment, that has the potential to turn into a game changing transfer in years to come.
