Chelsea are edging towards finalising a deal for Real Madrid right back Danilo. The Blues are yet to make a strike in the transfer market but Danilo could be the first arrival at the Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have made a slower start in the transfer market in comparison to their rivals but have gained some pace in the last few days as the Blues are set to complete a number of transfers. Antonio Conte has gotten frustrated over the lack of willingness in the transfer market which has worked as a catalyst.
Chelsea lifted the Premier League for the second time in three years but Conte wants further improvement in the next season. The defence has been one of the strong points for the Blues last season as Conte’s idea to man the defence with three defenders reaped huge dividends for them.
Victor Moses who was deployed in a more attacking right wing back position was hugely successful but the Italian gaffer wants to add more dynamism by adding a new player.
Danilo has fallen in the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu as Dani Carvajal has taken all the limelight. With the 2018 World Cup looming ahead, Danilo has been looking for some more game time so a move might be on the cards.
Juventus are also weighing a move for the Brazilian international as they are pursuing a replacement for Dani Alves who is Manchester City bound. Los Blancos is likely to recoup the maximum amount they paid to Porto in 2015 and would demand a fee in the region of £25.5m.
Chelsea are reportedly in the final phase of securing a deal for AS Roma’s Antonio Rudiger. Roma will pocket £34m for the German defender who recently won the Confederations Cup with Germany.
Danilo signed for Madrid in the hope of reshaping his career but his career has gone downwards since his arrival in Spain so it is high time for him to force a move elsewhere.
It is very unlikely for him to slot into the starting lineup over Dani Carvajal who has been the preferred choice for Zidane. The Blues had a bid rejected earlier but their strong determination might reflect in a much more improved bid this time.
Conte’ s initial target was Dani Alves of Juventus but the Brazilian right-back is set for a reunion with his former coach Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
