Celtic have been looking to build on the impetus that they got in the domestic campaign by becoming the Scottish Premiership Champions last season and have already started their venture in the summer transfer market for building a strong enough team for the next season. Being well aware of the fact that arch rivals Rangers have already managed to get nine new signings under their belt in the summer, the Hoops are also looking to make good use of the resources they have at their disposal and bring in some good players.
Compared to Rangers, Celtic have not yet done that much of business and are buying players according to the need of the hour. They have already secured the signatures of two players, one being the very influential Irish midfielder Jonny Hayes from fellow Premiership club Aberdeen and the other being the young central midfielder Kundai Benyu from Championship club Ipswich Town.
Reportedly, the Hoops might be on their way to make their third signing of the summer in the form of midfielder Mario Pasalic, who is currently playing for the Premier League Champions, Chelsea. However, their interest in the Croatian player might be contested by the former Turkish champions Galatasaray, who are also looking to get hold of the central midfielder for quite a long time.
The player was sent on loan to play for the Italian giants AC Milan in the last term by Chelsea, who wanted him to get some much needed first team experiences under his belt. The 22-year-old made good use of the opportunity, making 24 appearances for the Serie A giants and scoring five goals. He also registered one assist to show for his capability to play as a team man as well.
Brendan Rodgers has been keen to bring in quite a few players this summer in order to strengthen his side and eradicate the minor loopholes from the earlier season. He has made it possible to win the Scottish Premiership in his very first season in charge at the Celtic Park and wants to continue the good work with his team. Mario Pasalic is a part of his plans for the next season and the Englishman is looking to bring him as his third signing for the season.
However, he is expected to face stern competition from the Sky Bet Championship club Leeds United, who are also in the race to secure the signature of the Croatian youngster from Chelsea. Spanish La Liga club Real Betis are reportedly also interested in him.
