Burnley ended their last term at the sixteenth position on the Premier League table, which was one of their most disastrous seasons in the recent years. Though their defence played well under the leadership of the English defender Michael Keane, it was largely due to their ineffective forward line which caused problems for the side and they somehow survived to play another season in the top flight.
The Clarets are not looking to repeat their mistakes from the previous season once again and are poised to bring a top class striker who can spearhead their attack for the next term and help them finish their season in a position much better than the last one. They have targeted a number of players to be brought into their side, including the Everton reject Oumar Niasse, who played the latter half of the last season with the relegated side Hull City.
Niasse was brought into the Merseyside club in 2016 by the then coach Roberto Martinez, who was sacked at the end of that season and Ronald Koeman was made the in charge of the team. Under the Dutchman, the Senegalese striker was frozen and failed to make a single appearance for the club. Finally, he was sent on loan to the KCOM Stadium to spend the rest of the season.
It was not a very bad end to the season for the 26-year-old marksman though, as he made 19 appearances for Hull City and finished the season with five goals under his belt. However, the Tigers were relegated from the top tier despite his efforts and Niasse had to make his way back to Finch Farm.
With the Dutch tactician Koeman making it very clear to the striker that there is no future for him at Goodison Park, it has become very important for the 27-year-old to head out of the Merseyside club to end his nightmarish tenure. Though he has a contract that sees him stay at Everton till 2020, Niasse is desperate to join another club which will be helpful enough to restore his career.
With a number of clubs in the calling for the Senegalese forward including the likes of Premier League newcomers Brighton and Newcastle United, it looks like Burnley might be in pole position to bag the player for the next season.
The pace and skills of the 27-year-old striker, who made only 7 appearances so far for Everton, can come in very handy for the Clarets in the next term.
