Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady is on his way to Aston Villa. Steve Bruce’s side have reportedly triggered his £1m release clause and the player is expected to undergo a medical.
The 29-year-old has left Portugal where the Tigers are currently going through a rigorous pre-season camp and is set to complete his move to the Villa Park. Steve Bruce has been working towards this deal for quite some time and has landed a bargain deal.
Having been in England for a long period, the 29-year-old is very well accustomed to the condition and atmosphere of England and it won’t take much time for him to adjust himself at Villa Park.
Steve Bruce has to keep his transfer business within a very tight expenditure and the 29-year-old could be an excellent buy. The ex-Manchester United player has already scalped the prised transfer of John Terry who has been recently handed the armband for the next season.
Bruce had the chance to work with Elmohamady in a number of clubs. The 29-year-old has made 217 appearances for the Tigers and has witnessed two successful promotional battles with them.
The Egypt international’s strong area is the right-hand side of the midfield but for a large span of his career, he has played as an attacking minded right-back. Since their relegation last season, Hull have lost a number of players, notably Tom Huddlestone.
Andrew Robertson is the latest player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool. The youngster was one of the influential figures at the KCOM Stadium last season but could soon follow the Egyptian’s to the exit door.
Elmohamady’s career hasn’t shaped the way it should have. The last two years have been very straining for him as he faced the wrath of the fans after some poor performances last term. The 29-year-old had to fill in the right-back position and his inexperience led to some mistakes which hampered Hull very rapidly.
The Championship club are in the midst of a crisis as they are facing trouble to construct a commendable team for the upcoming season. Leonid Slutsky has to make some new signings in order to cope with the departures.
Elmohamady would team up with Bruce as the veteran manager is planning to push for a promotional berth next season. The Villans had a very poor last season and Bruce is adamant to learn from the mistakes of last season.
