Having failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, Arsenal are trying to make the most of the next season and the manager has already made a couple of decent additions to the squad at the Emirates. Arsenal have managed to finally sign French striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, but with Alexis Sanchez expected to leave the club this summer, Wenger is looking for more attacking options for the next season.
While AS Monaco star Thomas Lemar has been extensively linked with a move to the club, one player Arsenal are now getting desperate for is Celtic striker Moussa Dembele. If reports from the Express are to be believed, Wegner is now ready to go all out for the French sensation this summer. But is he a necessity for Arsenal?
Known for his deadly finishing and mesmerising dribbling abilities, the 21-year old only joined Celtic last summer, from London club Fulham, and in his first season in Scotland, he picked up 32 goals and picked up nine assists in all competitions, helping his side to a domestic treble.
Though not strong, or established at the international level, Dembele has all the makings of a top class striker. Also deadly at set pieces, the 21-year old is adept at creating chances with layoffs while is more than capable of taking on his man, to find the back of the net.
At his age, he is going to get better, and Wenger wants him in his squad as a long term option in attack. The Gunners have the likes of Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez in their ranks as backups for Lacazette in the striker’s role but one or two of those names could be on their way out of the club this summer.
This will give Dembele enough of an opportunity to prove himself at Arsenal, and having spent four long years at the Craven Cottage, in the English capital, he will be more than happy to prove himself again in the city, with a bigger club.
He may not be a like for like replacement for Alexis Sanchez in the squad, but his addition will give Wenger a chance to use a more attacking force, which might be the way to go next season.
The Chilean winger will be hard to replace and Lemar is a decent like-for-like replacement but Dembele has previous experience of playing in the English conditions and is a slightly better fit to Arsenal’s requirements this summer. But do you think he is the right man for them?
