Aleksandar Mitrovic might be on his way out of Newcastle United. The Serbian international had very limited game time last season in the Championship as the Magpies romped on to lift the title. Mitrovic has been searching for a new club as the recently promoted club are planning to undergo a squad overhaul.
Mitrovic was a £14.5m signing from Anderlecht who was brought in the same year they got relegated. The forward failed to create an impact at the St James Park and has fallen behind Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez in terms of playing time.
Despite getting adequate time to acclimatise himself to the culture of the English football, he seemed to have failed to understand the pros and cons of the English atmosphere.
The Serbian international also has temperament issues but lately, he has worked on his discipline and Benitez was happy with his improvement. But now with the Magpies securing a promotion, Benitez thinks it would be hard for the player to get into that mould which is necessary for the Premier League.
Benitez is likely to cash in on him and there will be no dearth of suitors for him.
West Ham United
Slaven Bilic’s requirement to find a suitable forward for the Hammers might turn his attention towards the striker. The 22-year-old had a brief experience of the Premier League so it won’t be difficult for him to get into the groove.
Bilic had his difficulties regarding the striker’s situations. Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll’s injury had almost hampered the season but Michail Antonio’s emergence in the last season helped Bilic immensely. He is searching a potential goal scorer for the East London clubs and Mitrovic could be that player.
West Bromwich Albion
Tony Pulis is understood to be willing to add another forward to the side. The Baggies gaffer is not convinced with the ability of Salomon Rondon and Hal Robson-Kanu who had a miserable season.
The Baggies have enough money to fund the transfer as Newcastle will likely recoup most of the money they paid for the player. Mitrovic himself would love to have a go in the Premier League once again.
Sunderland
Having gotten demoted to the Championship, the Black Cats will have to reshape their side as a number of players are expected to leave the club. Jermain Defoe is on the verge of joining Bournemouth and Jordan Pickford also is certain to leave for Everton.
So there would be sufficient money to spend in the transfer market to channelise the transfer for Mitrovic. The Serbian has ample experience in the Championship and could prove to be a very useful player for the Black Cats.
