Watford finished their last season on the brink of elimination from the Premier League and somehow managed to end their season in the top flight with a finish in the 17th position on the Premier League table. However, they are looking to make their previous season a thing of the past and are looking to power their way into the next season with a rebuilt side that will help to turn the tide in their favour.
The Hornets are looking to bring in a number of players from Premier League as well as Championship teams to strengthen their squad for the next season. One of the players they are eyeing to rope in is Lazar Markovic, the midfielder who played the last season for Hull City, one of the clubs who were not lucky enough to escape relegation in the last term.
The Serbian has been nothing less than a silver lining for the Tigers in what has been a rather gloomy season for them after joining on loan from Liverpool in January last year. He was one of the mainstays in the midfield and was able to bring back some of his good old form under the tutelage of the then Watford coach Marco Silva.
Now that Marco Silva has been appointed as the head coach of the Watford side following the sacking of Walter Mazzari, there is a good chance of a reunion between the Serbian playmaker and the Spanish coach, in case Markovic agrees to join the Hornets in the next season, now that his loan spell has ended with Hull City and he has returned to Liverpool.
The 23-year-old has been deemed surplus to the requirements under the coaching of Jurgen Klopp and has a good chance of getting a regular outing onto the pitch in case he gets a chance to join Watford in the new season. However, Liverpool has not made any comments on the probable transfer that might see the Serbian land at Vicarage Road in the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Reportedly, Russian club Zenit St Peterburg is also looking interested in making a bid for the 23 year old midfielder. Apart from them, several clubs from the Portuguese and Italian leagues are also making their interests heard for the Serbian midfield enforcer in the next season from the Merseyside club.
However, with Marco Silva being appointed their new coach, the Hornets are quite hopeful of getting hold of their desired target in the form of Markovic in the summer.
