Having won two league titles in three years, Chelsea are one of the best teams at the moment in England but they will have to work really hard on their squad if they are to compete with the best next season. They have been linked with some of the best players in Europe and one such star who is constantly linked with a move to the Bridge is Fiorentina star Federico Bernardeschi.
According to most recent reports, Manchester United and Chelsea are looking to make a move for him this summer with the Italia outfit reportedly set to make a bid of around £30m for his services in the upcoming days.
Capable of playing as a striker, Bernardeschi is at his most productive on the right wing in attack where he can run past his opponents or set up his teammates on goals with his sumptuous passing. He can play in most positions and Conte will surely be attracted to his versatility.
He still has to work on his defensive contributions and is also a liability in the air, his attributes with the ball at his feet make him an exciting addition. Chelsea have used Pedro and Willian in that position and but they will need a player who can back them and Eden Hazard up in the next season when they will be fighting in four competitions.
The Italian attacker loves to play short passes and is a great threat in counter-attack situations. His key pass ratio is right up there with the best in Serie A and at just 23, he is only going to get better. He already has seven caps for the national side He has made almost 100 appearances in all competitions in his career in Italy and is gaining experience by the game.
He is not expected to be the first choice next season for Conte but the Italian tactician has worked with the Fiorentina man and seems to be confident that he can help Chelsea in their endeavours next season. Chelsea fans might be looking for a more exciting signing but with the quality already in their attack, Conte has taken a smart decision to go for a player who can act as a backup in more than two positions.
At around £30m he is hardly overpriced and at his age, Chelsea should take a chance and hire him this summer. However, for his international career, Bernardeschi should look for a club which can offer more game time.
