Tottenham Hotspur have always been fond of taking challenges regarding the choice of players for their team, as they are inclined towards preferring younger and lesser known yet talented players to be brought into the team and nurture them into superstars, one of the biggest example of which is the Welsh superstar Gareth Bale.
The current Real Madrid forward started his career in the top flight as a left back for Tottenham Hotspur and went on to become one of the most dangerous and prolific strikers in the world under the benevolent tutelage of current Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Keeping with the tradition, the Argentine mastermind has been looking for more talented players whom he can bring into the side and can get the best out of. One such player is the Charlton Athletic defender Ezri Konsa, who is currently playing in the League One and had a great season last term despite his team having a lowly campaign in terms of results.
The 20-year-old is known for his skills and powerful brand of football, which has enabled him to be selected in the under 20 team for England that went on to win the recently concluded youth World Cup.
The young defender has attracted a lot of attention in the recent years due to his good performances for Charlton Athletic and has been one of the most sought after players for a number of clubs from the Premier League as well.
Reportedly, the arch rivals of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, who are also known for their patronage of young talents, have been known to bring in players from lower League clubs, for example, Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers, whom they brought in the last term, are also very much interested in signing Konsa for the next season.
Spurs have been in a crisis over the selection of a new centre-back, who they want to bring in as a back-up for their Belgian duo Toby Alderweirald and Jan Vertonghen, as they are looking to let go off their Austrian centre-back Kevin Wimmer, who failed to make a big impact in the last season after being brought into the side.
There is a strong possibility that the Spurs might get Konsa in their side for the next season to play as a back-up in the centre back position. However, it does not guarantee him first team starts in the Premier League but surely it will be a very big learning experience for the 20-year-old. Do you think he is the right man for the Spurs?
